Soul Eater Not! TV Anime In Production!

Atsushi Okubo's popular series Soul Eater (2004-2013) followed DWMA students, Maka Albarn and her scythe partner Soul Eater; assassin Black Star and his partner Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, who can turn into a variety of different weapons such as a kusarigama, shuriken, and ninjatō; and Shinigami's son Death the Kid and his pistol partners Liz and Patty Thompson, on their journey to make their weapon the next Death Scythe for the schools headmaster Shinigami aka Death. 

Now the spin off manga story to that popular series, Soul Eater Not!, is now scheduled to get an anime adaptation produced by BONES (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Space Dandy) and will premiere on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka on April 8, then followed on TV Aichi (April 9), BS Japan and AT-X (April 10). 

Soul Eater Not! is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo as a spin-off of Soul Eater. It began serialization in Monthly Shōnen Gangan on January 12, 2011. It is currently ongoing, and focuses on a freshman halberd named Tsugumi Harudori, who befriends two other meisters, Meme Tatane and Anya Hepburn. The three take part in the NOT (Normally Overcome Target) class at DWMA and learn to control their powers in order to overcome their difficulties to have a normal life.

Meet the three main characters Tsugumi Harudori, Meme Tatane, and Anya Hepburn!

Tsugumi Harudori

The main protagonist of the spin-off manga Soul Eater Not!. She is a timid yet cheerful student from Japan who firmly believes DWMA is a school to train the world's heroes. She is a demon halberd, but does not learn to turn into her weapon form until after she enrolls at DWMA. She models her appearance after Maka Albarn, the first student she meets at DWMA, by wearing her own hair in two ponytails.

Meme Tatane

A meister who suffers from short-term memory loss, causing her to forget even her own name on occasion. She becomes friends with Tsugumi after she helps save her from a pair of bullies. Although clumsy most of the time, she is proficient in a kind of martial art called "Sleeping Fist," which she can only perform while she is asleep.

Anya Hepburn

A meister with a wealthy upbringing who escapes from her constrained life and goes to DWMA in the hopes of emulating the behavior of those she considers to be "commoners." She views Tsugumi to be the most normal of all her classmates, and thus shows interest in becoming her partner.

Now, while I have only just recently started reading the series myself I am sure many of you out there who really enjoyed the original series will enjoy this one as well. I would recommend this manga/anime to anyone looking to just have a few good laughs and get a new perspective for the original series. I will have a review for the manga once I have caught up to where they are in the still ongoing manga.
