Weeds vs Blooms
A big part of the manga is the categories for students in the high school there are two categories; the Blooms or Course one students are the students who had high entrance scores and therefore stronger magic. The Weeds or Course two students are those that were below the first half of students that scored good on the entrance exam and therefore they have lesser capabilities in regards of there magic.

The name Blooms comes from the symbol of First High, a flower, being present on the clothing of the Course 1 students and not the Course 2 students. There is a general feeling of superiority among the Blooms just by being in Course 1. The Course 1 students are sorted into classes A, B, C and D, while the Course 2 students are sorted into classes E, F, G and H. Class distribution is supposed to be evenly split between the four classes, although exceptions occur which give educators considerable headaches.

As opposed to the Blooms with a flower on their uniform, the Weeds do not have it, hence their name. People in Course 2 generally have weaker magical capabilities compared to those in Course 1. People in Course 2 have limited access to instructors and facilities as compared to the Blooms.

Ten Master Classes
The Ten Master Clans is the title given to the Top 10 most influential magic families in Japan. The power of these houses ascends beyond that of judicial authorities. There were a total of 28 families worthy of the name the Ten Master Clans, and whoever possessed the strongest magic, the top ten will carry the title. The remaining families which serve as replacements are called the 18 Assistant Houses.

The current Ten Master Clans are:
  1. Ichijou
  2. Futatsugi
  3. Mitsuya
  4. Yoitsuba
  5. Itsuwa
  6. Mutsudzuka
  7. Saegusa
  8. Yatsushiro
  9. Kudou
  10. Juumonj

Student Council
First High School places heavy emphasis on self-determination, thus, the Student Council has been granted vast powers within the confines of the school. It is stated that most of the other schools in Japan also adopt a similar method.

Student Council members must be selected from the Course 1 students. To change this requires a special amendment meeting with the attendance of the full student body and carried by a two-thirds majority.
