A mysterious substance called Necrometal devours or infects anything that comes within a certain distant of a place called the Lightless realm. It starts at an ordinary school in a city of close proximity to the Lightless realm and focus's on Akashi for the most part. Akashi is no. 1 in the school when using the training bots to defeat schoolmates and is first seen fighting his best friend and defeating him. A man approaches him with an invitation to join a special force that is tasked with defeating the corpses and uncovering the secrets of the Lightless realm. Fast forward some time and a corpse appears which has the power to "kill" people who hear its song. It sings a lovely melody and like a countdown, over the next few months it is discovered that Emiru has become infected by the necrometal that has plagued the realm for so long. Gun Gale Online What I Think so Far

I don't know anyone who wasn't excited for this next installment of SAO and close to nobody who wasn't pleased by its premiere episode. It is living up to its hype with contiunuing the great visuals they gave us for SAO and ALO as well as some pretty nice action scenes.

In my opinion I did enjoy the introduction of the main villain early on in the first episode even though it leaves little a mystery. Death Gun is a pretty dark character who seems to be just wanting to commit murder for no reason, so until we know his reasoning and identity thats the little mystery we as viewers have left.

As awesome as Kirito is with a sword for his weapon I feel that he could have been just as bad ass with a gun for this season. He is one of very few who actually use the games close combat weapon but I still cant help but feel the lack of uniqueness that gives him seeing as how anyone can get the photon swords. In SAO what made him pretty bad ass (at least for me) was the fact that he was the only one who could wield two swords and that his were the only two with that design.

Lastly the lack of Asuna and the others that he played with throughout the other two games gives this one a pretty empty feeling. It seems that sinon will be the only important person he really meets in the game that wil actually be on his side throughout the run of the season. I am not sure if any of the other characters will make appearences in the GGO game or not but it would be a nice addition to the adventure and storyline to see where they would go with that.

Overall, this season is turning out pretty nicely despite some personal dislikes about certain parts and I can't wait to see more of the action scenes especially the inevitable fight between sinon and kirito!

The Itasha of WCS

Source: www.worldcosplaysummit.jp/en/

The World Cosplay Summit (WCS) event held in Nagoya, Japan is pretty popular among otaku for its outstanding cosplay costumes being shown off by representatives of 22 different nations.

Another otaku loved thing showcased at this international event is Itasha and many of them. According to wikipedia Itasha is "a Japanese term for an otaku fad of individuals decorating the bodies of their cars with fictional characters of anime, manga, or video games (especially bishōjo game or eroge). These characters are predominately "cute" female. The decorations usually involve paint schemes and stickers.", or to most others an amazing car with anime on it.

Some pretty awesome examples of itasha,

Summer 2014 Top 3 Anime!

So, it is yet again the change of a season for anime and with that comes new shows to premiere and more fans to obsess.

***These three were chosen based off of the amount of buzz surrounding them and the amount of positive comments made on episodes that have aired.

1. Tokyo ESP

Summary: Rinka Urushiba as a fairly normal high school girl, though she is a bit poor and her only family is her father. One day, she sees a penguin and some glowing fish swimming through the sky. Rinka might have thought it was a hallucination if there had not been another witness with her, a boy from her school with a strangely scratched-up face. Contact with a fish causes her to pass out, and when she awakens, she has developed the power to move through inanimate objects such as the floor of her apartment. She meets a fellow high school student named Kyotaro Azuma, who has the ability to teleport. The two of them use their ESP powers to take on individuals who have decided to use them for evil. However, there is an organization that plans for a bigger scheme to secure utopia with their ranks consisting of strong ESP fighters and users.

2. Akame Ga Kill

Summary: Under the rule of a tyrannical empire, Tatsumi, a young swordsman, leaves his home to save his poverty stricken village. He meets a girl named Akame, an assassin who was bought, brainwashed and trained to kill by the Empire. Akame is a member of the secret assassin group called “Night Raid” who use special weapons called Teigu. Together, Tatsumi and the members of Night Raid confront the corrupt empire.

3. Sword Art Online: Gun Gale Online

Summary: It has been a full year since the end of the Sword Art Online incident and ten months since the end of the ALfheim Online incident. Although things had returned to normal for some time, mysterious incidents occur in another VRMMO game, called Gun Gale Online (GGO), when in two instances, a player in the game is shot by a mysterious person in a mantle who calls himself «Death Gun» and the shot player mysteriously disconnects after a few seconds, only for their real body to be found dead days later. After the second such incident, Kirigaya Kazuto is asked by a member of the VR Crimes Division, Kikuoka Seijirou, to investigate the rumours that the incidents in-game are related to the deaths of the players in the real world. After hearing that Death Gun has a requirement for his targets: the people he supposedly kills are all top players, Kazuto agrees to convert his ALfheim Online avatar into Gun Gale Online using The Seed's character conversion feature and enter the enter the most well known tournament in the game, the Bullet of Bullets, to draw the attention of the mysterious Death Gun.

The Irregular at Magic High School, My Thoughts After the Hype!

So after all the anticipating for the show to begin it is now 16 episodes in and I have much to say. First off, I would say that the animation is all I hoped it to be with the spells looking great and the colors a good saturation level for my eyes to take in the great art! Second, The concept that was given in the pre-airing of the anime proved to be accurate and exciting. I do believe however that the story should start developing into a more action oriented plot. It would open up many different possibilities for not only character development, but also the advancement into different story arcs.

What I Like So Far
- While only a few episodes in I already liked the character design and animation for this anime (which is produced by the MADHOUSE studio). Another nice thing to see is that there is not much use of un realistic colors for the characters (i.e. hair colors and eyes) it makes the characters and scenes with these bright colors stand out and I like that. Another thing I like is the idea of having some action but its not being the central point of the overall story like in other anime (i.e. Bleach, Naruto, One Piece).

What I Don't Like
- There is basically just one thing I am not to fond of at the moment and that is the speed of the story. I feel that each episode spends alot of time talking about the same things and not really moving the story forward at a decent pace. It really should speed up the less important details and get to the major story points so that it can incorporate a more intense climax scene.

Other than those few things the anime is overall going good and I enjoy watching it on Crunchyroll every week. While it will be ending soon I suggest to those who haven't seen it to wait until it is finished and reached its 26th episode then just watch the whole thing in one shot.

P.S. sorry for such a short and undetailed review and lack of pictures and creativity I am working on getting back into the swing of things so until then some posts might be sub par! Bare with me until then my fellow readers! :)

Onigiri Online Game! Is It Worth Your Time?

Hey Anime Insider family today is the official return from hiatus of the AI blog and I have brought to you the brand new and addictive game of Onigiri!

What is Onigiri?

- Onigiri is an online MMORPG set in feudal japan during the rule of the shogunate, and players create an avatar who is the Oni who will save japan from the evil Kamikui. Players will battle against demons on the japan island of onigashima called Youkai and meet many partners who will help on their journey to defeat the kamikui who have returned after years of peace.

The game is still relatively new so glitches and other misc. problems are sure to arise while playing. Other than the small glitches the game can be experienced by many as a medium paced game that has a decent level of difficulty and a friendly player community.

Character Creation

- The game offers a decent selection of character customizations such as hair, face, body type, and clothing. Now something that is needed is more of a variety because some players end uo with the same exact character, but thats okay because if you change your mind you can always change it later in game (for a price).

Weapons
- Now what would make a Japanese game other than Big Swords and odd looking weapons? It wouldn't be a Japanese game. Now, many will find it fristrating that you will have to level up pretty high to use some of the more powerful weapons, but that aside even weak weapons can be powered up through enhancements and smelting weapons together.

Community
- The games community is all how an individual plays the game and interacts with other players. For example in the beginning many high level players might be viewed as mean as they try to farm low level monsters even taking the kill from new players. This is pretty common but is very easy to get over once you have met other players and joined in parties. There are many people who are willing to help out low level players even if they themselves have beaten the quest or area. My suggestion would be to join partys that are farming certain dungeons multiple times because it helps to build IG friendships and those people will be glad to help you later on when its your turn for help.

Important Notes
- There are some important parts to the game that are not very straightforward as you play and that could get you stuck on certain areas or quests of the game. First, it is important to not only complete the main story quests but also pick up as many of the side quests as possible the reason being that it increases players levels much faster as well as giving you some good items. Second, while many will think to contuniously re equip qith "stronger" weapons as they level it is also just as good to enhance a weaker weapon also because they can become just as powerfull as higher level weapons with the right enhancements and through weapon smithing. Third, is that between each main quest a player should level up at least once or twice so that they dont fall behind the recommended level for dungeons. The problem with that is the fact that it will make a quest much harder than it has to be and will force players to grind for experience points or join a party with stronger players. There are other small things but they are more obvious as the game continues.

In the end this is definitely one MMORPG to give a try for those looking for a bit of a challenge and a overall good play experience. Also, recommended to those who like to learn more of the cultural background of japan and some of its ancient myths. Go To http://onigiri.cyberstep.com/home to get started on your journey!

Sentai Filmworks Second New Anime Adaptation!

The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior (Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou)

Ruri Miyahara's "adolescent comedy with 3/10ths love and 7/10ths humor" revolves around Usa Kazunari (Yūichi Iguchi), a boy who is now living alone thanks to his parents' job transfer. However, his new Kawai-Sō apartment complex is filled with only odd perverts. And yet, Ritsu Kawai (Kana Hanazawa), a sempai he adores, also happens to live there ...

Sentai Filmworks made the announcement on Wednesday March 26th that it had licensed the anime adaptation of Ruri Miyahara's The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior (Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou) manga. The series will be available April 3 streaming as it airs, and a home video release will follow.

Also, a promotional video features the opening theme song "Itsuka no, Iku Tsuka no Kimi to no Sekai" by fhana. This promo for the series began streaming on saturday the 22nd.

Look for a follow up post soon for more information on the series and the people behind the anime. Thanks for your support!

Sentai Filmworks Licenses New Sports Anime!

North American anime publisher Sentai Filmworks announced on Tuesday March 25th that they had licensed the anime adaptation of the  Haikyuu!! volleyball manga by Haruichi Furudate. The sports anime is set to premiere this April 6th and a home video release is to follow.

The original plot follows junior high student, Shōyō Hinata, as he gains a new found love of volleyball after watching a national championship match on TV. Although short in height, he becomes determined to follow in the footsteps of the championship's star player, nicknamed the "Small Giant", after seeing his plays. He creates a volleyball club and begins practicing by himself. Eventually five other members join the team by his last year of middle school, but they are defeated in their first tournament after being challenged by the championship favorite team, which includes the so-called "King of the Court" Tobio Kageyama, in the first round. Though Hinata's team suffers a miserable defeat, he vows to eventually surpass Kageyama and defeat him.

So, when Shōyō gets to high school he joins Kurasuno High School's volleyball team, vowing revenge against Kageyama. However, Kageyama is also on Kurasuno's team. The former rivals form a legendary combo with Hinata's mobility and Kageyama's precision ball-handling. Together, they take on the local tournaments and vow to meet Kurasuno's fated rival school in the nationals.

The series will be directed by Susumu Mitsunaka who will be directing from scripts written by Taku Kishimoto. Takahiro Kishida will work on character design while Production I.G (Kuroko no Basuke) will handle the series animation.

Now, since Production I.G is said to be the animator of this series many will hope that it meet the same quality standard that Kuroko no Basuke set. Also, many fans might want to compare the two sports series seeing as how they are two sports themed anime being animated by the same production company. Lets hope that this new series will bring with it the success that came to Kuroko no Basuke which currently has two seasons.

100th Anniversary of A-1 Pictures Anime!

Animation studio A-1 Pictures (Accel World, Black Butler, Fairy Tail, SAO, and FMA) is producing a special anime, Toki wa Meguru ~ TOKYO STATION (Time Flows ~ Tokyo Station), to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Tokyo Station City train station.

Tokyo Station
Background Information: Served by Shinkansen high-speed rail lines, Tokyo Station is the main intercity rail terminal in Tokyo. It is the busiest station in Japan in terms of number of trains per day (over 3,000), and the fifth-busiest in Eastern Japan in terms of passenger throughput. It is also served by many regional commuter lines of Japan Railways, as well as the Tokyo Metro network.

Toki wa Meguru (Time Flows) by Yū Sakai is th theme song featured in this 30 second promotional video for the anime set to premiere in spring of 2014.

Dialogue in the video (Thanks to ANN.com!):
"Dad... It would have been great if we had talked more, huh? Mom said it, you know. "Your dad was the god that protects the times of Tokyo Station." I wonder... Does that mean that time has stopped since that day?"

Thanks to Anime News Network for the dialogue for the video which normally I can never find! Please don't sue me for using the translation without permission!!! xD

Sony HMD & Other Reality Blurring Tech!

Now you might be asking yourself what does HMD mean? Or what does this have to do with anime? Well read on and the answers to your question will be answered!

At Anime Japan 2013 Sony's new HMD (head-mounted device) takes those who wear it into the world of anime. It tracks your head movements so it feels as if you're actually inside a cartoon. Turning your head to the left or right Also Makes what your watching move in That direction as well. At Sony's Booth They Demonstrated the Technology using the anime The IDOLM @ STER, and They Demonstrated with two Different Scenarios. One Scenario Placed the user at a concert, with the Wearer in the perspective of an audience member. The other is set in the offices of the talent agency from the anime and lets you watch the cast behind the scenes.

Graphinica, a special effects studio active in several anime (The Pilot's Love Song, Girls und Panzer) blurs realities boarders and animation even further with its Live2D motion capture technology. With the use of the Xbox 360 Kinect device and a microphone they can translate not only the voice, but movements of an on screen 2D character, and while the technology is common this uses a 2-D animation while others most comonly will use 3-D to get closer to reality as they can.

With all of this technology that is being advanced and released it brings around the question of what will come next for the world of anime and even gaming? Will anime fans get a real SAO experience? And the most important question being, Will all of these advances in technology bring society further from reality than what is needed? n the comments page of the blog.

Log Horizon Review!

Any Sword Art Online fans out there? Well this is probably the anime for you, and as always I am here to tell you all about this epic MMORPG anime tale! For this review I will go over a summary of the series, my personal opinion, news, comparison to SAO, and a link to where to watch the series. Now, let us jump on in to the review!

I have heard that this was a good anime, but I never actually watched it whats it about?
If you havent seen it yet you must it is a series that will sneak up behind you grab hold and never let go! Anyway, Log Horizon  is a Japanese novel series written by Mamare Touno. The series follows the strategist, Shiroe, and the other players of the long-lived MMORPG Elder Tale after they find themselves whisked away into the game world following a game update. The novel has received four manga adaptations, with one based on the main story and the other three revolving around characters in the series. An anime adaptation aired on NHK Educational TV between October 5, 2013 and March 22, 2014.

How could this possibly compare to SAO?!

Deviant Art Miizu-Kun
Well there have been many comparisons made for this series that include the obvious one that both involve people trapped inside of a virtual game after the game received an update. One other comparison fans of SAO make is that the main character for LH is not as awesome as Kirito the main protagonist of SAO, and on that I would tell those people that this series main character is in my perspective better than Kirito because he actually takes the initiative to communicate with many of the games strongest players and make rules for everyone while they are still trapped in the world of elder tale while all kirito was focused on was trying to get his self out. Now, what is drastically different when comparing the series is that in SAO if you died in the game the same went for your body in reality, and in LH it stays true to a real game in that you just revive at a designated point. I could go on with comparisons, but some get me flustered with what fans comment on and that would lead to a whole post of me rambling, but If you have anything to say/ask just post in the comments Ill answer them all :)

Izuru-san what news is there about this anime?

Well there is the good and the bad news and I will start with the bad. The season ended March 22nd with its 25th episode after 6 months of airing. Now, the good news is that it was only the end of the first season and it was announced that a second season would be ready for fans to watch come October of this year! So what that means is you should go watch it if you havent already and then wait patiently for October to roll around so you can follow the series adventurers once again!

What is it you liked Izuru-san?

By the first episode I already knew I liked the overall character design and animation. The series is very well animated and some of the attacks have an awesome visual appeal to me. The story line for LH in my opinion is much better than what was executed with SAO in that the latter had those annoying time skips always making me feel I missed something in the last episode or that I wasn't paying enough attention. Another thing I liked about the story was that it stayed true to what its would be like to play a modern day MMORPG in today's reality, and how every episode has a short explanation of real game terms such as guilds, classes, and sub classes. Overall, it was a series that moved a comfortable pace to me and did a nice job of integrating real life MMORPG elements to the anime and story line.

A small attack in the anime

A Course 1 third year who is Student Council President in 2095. She is considered a prodigy in long-ranged shooting, hence her nicknames "Elven Sniper" and "Magic Shooter". Mayumi is a daughter of the Saegusa Family, one of the Ten Master Clans.

Weeds vs Blooms
A big part of the manga is the categories for students in the high school there are two categories; the Blooms or Course one students are the students who had high entrance scores and therefore stronger magic. The Weeds or Course two students are those that were below the first half of students that scored good on the entrance exam and therefore they have lesser capabilities in regards of there magic.

The name Blooms comes from the symbol of First High, a flower, being present on the clothing of the Course 1 students and not the Course 2 students. There is a general feeling of superiority among the Blooms just by being in Course 1. The Course 1 students are sorted into classes A, B, C and D, while the Course 2 students are sorted into classes E, F, G and H. Class distribution is supposed to be evenly split between the four classes, although exceptions occur which give educators considerable headaches.

As opposed to the Blooms with a flower on their uniform, the Weeds do not have it, hence their name. People in Course 2 generally have weaker magical capabilities compared to those in Course 1. People in Course 2 have limited access to instructors and facilities as compared to the Blooms.

Ten Master Classes
The Ten Master Clans is the title given to the Top 10 most influential magic families in Japan. The power of these houses ascends beyond that of judicial authorities. There were a total of 28 families worthy of the name the Ten Master Clans, and whoever possessed the strongest magic, the top ten will carry the title. The remaining families which serve as replacements are called the 18 Assistant Houses.

The current Ten Master Clans are:
  1. Ichijou
  2. Futatsugi
  3. Mitsuya
  4. Yoitsuba
  5. Itsuwa
  6. Mutsudzuka
  7. Saegusa
  8. Yatsushiro
  9. Kudou
  10. Juumonj

Student Council
First High School places heavy emphasis on self-determination, thus, the Student Council has been granted vast powers within the confines of the school. It is stated that most of the other schools in Japan also adopt a similar method.

Student Council members must be selected from the Course 1 students. To change this requires a special amendment meeting with the attendance of the full student body and carried by a two-thirds majority.

Modern Magic

Modern Magic is categorized by the type of action instead of its apparent nature. It is divided into 4 major types and each contain 2 subtypes. These are collectively known as the Four Great Systems and Eight Major Types. Cardinal Codes are Magic Sequences that are supposed to be the building blocks of these systems.

Ancient Magic

Developed before modern magic, ancient magic is capable of different things, most of it is specialized beyond the capabilities of modern magic. Generally, ancient magic is slower and more focused than modern magic, as practitioners do not use CADs and instead use talismans and the like. Families that inherit ancient magics tend to hide their abilities, although in the new age of categorization, it tends to be a little less pronounced. In terms of surprise attacks, ancient magic boasts superior firepower and secrecy. There are some ancient magics that allow people to fly, which was impossible to replicate with modern magic until Shiba Tatsuya accomplished it.

Magic Power

International Standards rank Magicians according to their abilities, from rank E to rank A. Currently, Magic Power standards are calculated by:
- Interference Strength (strength of rewriting Eidos)
- Scale of Magic Sequences (magic tolerance)
- Speed (speed of magic design)
The Magic Power is the combination of the three.

Magic Power standards change over time.

While I have no idea what is being said I can assure you this has peaked my interest for the series even more, and I am even looking for a good legal way to read some English scans of the manga that will not only promote the series, but hopefully contribute to amazing episodes.
