"M3 The Dark Metal" and Sony Working on Game

The story focuses on a group of 4 boys and 4 girls (later on 5) who met, when they were younger, in a realm full of darkness. A mysterious substance called Necrometal devours or infects anything that comes within a certain distant of a place called the Lightless realm. It starts at an ordinary school in a city of close proximity to the Lightless realm and focus's on Akashi for the most part. Akashi is no. 1 in the school when using the training bots to defeat schoolmates and is first seen fighting his best friend and defeating him. A man approaches him with an invitation to join a special force that is tasked with defeating the corpses and uncovering the secrets of the Lightless realm. Fast forward some time and a corpse appears which has the power to "kill" people who hear its song. It sings a lovely melody and like a countdown, over the next few months it is discovered that Emiru has become infected by the necrometal that has plagued the realm for so long. It is now up to Akashi to use the device known as the Reaper or MA-Vess in order to defeat the corpse and save everyone.

Directed by Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon) and written by Mari Okada (Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine) the anime is now receiving a game adaptation for the Sony PS Vita gaming platform.

Bandai is said to be working on the project, expected to be an adventure game with a disjointed storytelling style. The game will switch between different perspectives for each of the eight Team Gargouille members with gamers having the ability to select a new character at the beginning of each chapter in the game.

It is expected for a a Japanese launch date of November 20.

Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei coming April 5th!

Hello again my fellow anime enthusiasts (Aka Otaku), I'm here with another post about yet another magic related anime! I know I know by now you might be getting a little tired of these posts, but I promise it's only temporary and will definitely diversify soon. Anyway on to what this post is about; recently released was the sixth commercial for the quickly approaching anime Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei (The irregular at magic high school), and to go along with it a new key visual was also unveiled!

Izuru-san what even is The irregular at magic high school? Oh I was wondering when you would ask! Well a Japanese light novel series written by Tsutomu Satō and illustrated by Kana Ishida was adapted into several manga, each adapting a different arc of the light novel. Now, an anime television series adaptation by Madhouse is scheduled to air from April 5, 2014. As far as the story goes, the series is set in a world where magic exists and has been utilized as a technology for nearly a century. Rather than casting spells with chants or other traditional forms of spellcasting, mages use a Casting Assistant Device, better known as a CAD. Mages infuse the CAD with psions or thought particles (a substance-less particle and psychic phenomenon) while the CAD itself provides an activation sequence, which is then used to construct a magic ritual in order to invoke the magic. This magic ritual targets the Idea, the platform on which Eidos are recorded. Eidos refers to a form of information that is attached to a phenomenon. Modern magic uses false signals to manipulate the Eidos of a target, which in turn modifies the phenomenon and causes physical changes in the real world.

Well Izuru-san you gave us the setting and all, but what is the actual anime going to be about?! Oops guess I should give you more information, so as not to leave you confused and on your own to find it somewhere else! In the year 2095(81 years from now!), Tatsuya Shiba and his sister Miyuki Shiba are new students enrolling at the Private Magic University Affiliated High School (First High School). Students are ranked according to their test scores: students with the best grades are designated "Bloom" and enrolled in the Course 1 curriculum, while those with poor scores are designated "Weed" and enrolled in Course 2. Miyuki topped the entrance exams and is selected to be the first years' representative, while Tatsuya is placed in Course 2 due to his low practical test score, despite scoring the highest in the written portion of the exams. Now this answers your question doesn't it...probably should have answered the previous question with this information huh!

This sounds interesting Izuru-san, but where can I see those commercials you originally mentioned? Oh yes! Thank you for reminding me that is the whole reson for this post anyway. Well before you start watching the commercial please do know that I don't claim any parts of the video as my own and that all rights belong to the respective owners.

Want to thank Maxim Firsov for the videos used in this post!

Those commercials were short but they looked nice! What about the Visual you told us about earlier in the post Izuru-san? Good that you asked about it I actually have it all planned out in a fun way! So, what I have decided to do is that starting tomorrow I will start a countdown in the form of a post; each post will include the number of days left until the anime premiers and an official character picture with a short description of the character. This will happen every day until April 5th which is the premiere date of the anime (We know Izuru-san you have said it at least 3 times already what day it will be out -_-). Also, any time during the countdown I may include any other images related to the anime or manga for you to enjoy and get hyped about the series.

Anything else you can tell us Izuru-san? Hmmm...let me think for a second, and then I will let you know if there is anything else! Oh I got it this might not be something that many of you would care about, but there is the people behind the scenes of the anime. Manabu Ono (Full metal Panic!, Tenchi Muyo, and Hellsing) will be directing the anime with assistant director Yuuji Kumazawa at the Studio MADHOUSE (Black Lagoon, Cardcaptor sakura, and Gunslinger Girl). The original  light novel illustrator Kana Ishida is also handling the anime character designs along with sub-character designer Maho Yoshikawa. There are three chief animation directors; Ishida, Maho Yoshikawa, and Shinichi Miyamae are their names and they will be working together on most of the animations while the action animation directors are Takashi Tomioka and Satoshi Iwataki who will be working on the battle sequences of the series. Oh yeah and I also heard that the first opening song of the series is by LiSA while the ending will be sung by ELISA both popular artist you might have even heard a part of the song in the clips above.

Fairy Tail UPDATE!

Hey guys I'm back with another update for the rapidly approaching return of the Fairy Tail anime. So, on Sunday March 16, 2014 Avex ( holding company for a group of entertainment-related subsidiaries based in Japan) started streaming a promotional video for the upcoming series set to be aired April 5th. The promo video contains the first opening for the anime by the ''Queen of Korean Pop" Kwon Boa (Aka BoA) titled "Masayume Chasing".

Here is the promotional video:

I found a Translation of the video on ANN website, but please be aware I do not claim this as my own work all rights belong to the staff at ANN who translated it.

Guild members: Erza...
Erza: You fools...
Natsu: A dragon... graveyard?

Lucy: Acnologia...?
Natsu: Why you...!
Text: The battle fantasy that has enchanted the entire world...

Gajeel: Crud... Don't fool around.
Juvia: Oh...! My dear Gray...!

Animation Studio Trigger Announces New Anime!

Well everyone looks like recently a lot of light novels and other popular manga have been getting the green light to start producing their anime adaptations, for all of us to watch and the latest seems to be from the studio Trigger who brought us anime like; Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia two anime with a pretty good fan base that support them. It was announced recently that the the manga Inō-Battle wa Nichijō-kei no Naka de (Inou-Battle in the Usually Daze) will be receiving an anime adaptation that will be produced by non other than Trigger.

Now for some background about the manga; Originally Inou-Battle in the Usually Daze started out as a Japanese light novel series by Kota Nozomi with illustrations by 029. SB Creative a Japanese publishing company, also a subsidiary of the SoftBank telecommunications company, has published five volumes since 2012 under their GA Bunko imprint. The actual manga adaptation had art from illustrator  Kōsuke Kurose, and the serialization began September of 2013 in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace.

In the original novel series' story, the five members of the literature club awakened with extraordinary powers half a year ago. Although the members expected to be thrown into a world of super-powered battles (inō-battle) at their school, their normal daily routine continued. No secret organizations bent on world destruction, no super-powered wars, no braves or demon kings.
However, the members still look forward to the possibilities of adventure, and continued to believe that with each day, they were getting ever closer to those days of fantasy. Their days of romantic comedy and battles with extraordinary powers begin!

Now, while I have never heard of the series before the design and plot of the story sound very interesting and intrigue me to check it out before the debut of the anime. What stands out the most to me is how the story sounds like it was going to go in the direction of the action genre, but once I read on in the summary it made me perceive it as something belonging to the comedic genre of anime with potential plot twists and mischievous moments. I will be taking a look at both the LN and the manga to see if I will build my anticipation for the future anime and I will write a review for those of you who would like to know my thoughts before you began to read.

Anime Planet now with video!

BIG NEWS!

As some of you may know from recent news the Anime and Manga Database, Anime Planet, has just recently partnered with the legal anime streaming site Crunchyroll to bring users the experience of watching the anime they want right on the Anime Planet site.

Below is the press release posted from Kit (Sothis) Cameron on the Crunchyroll partnership.

Anime-Planet, the world’s most reputable recommendation database for anime and manga that serves 500,000 users a month, now supports in-depth Crunchyroll video integration.
The site has partnered with Crunchyroll, a leading provider of streaming anime, to allow users to watch Crunchyroll’s thousands of legal streaming videos directly from Anime-Planet. What’s more, members can opt-in to have their Anime-Planet watch lists automatically updated when viewing videos on the site.
With this partnership, Anime-Planet becomes the first and oldest recommendation resource and social anime community to provide a feature of this type.
Kim Cameron, CEO and founder of Anime-Planet, said the partnership came about because of a mutual interest with Crunchyroll to make legal streaming anime more available.
"Anime-Planet's goal is to become a go-to place for industry-supported multimedia content, integrated into our powerful, reputable recommendation database. As Crunchyroll is an industry leader in bringing anime to the masses, and as Anime-Planet shares Crunchyroll’s desire to give fans an easy way to find new anime via the recommendation database, it was a perfect fit for partnership,” she said.

Now the world's most reputable recommendation database for anime and manga that serves 500,000 users a month, has made another announcement about a NEW partnership! Yes, AP has partnered with Hulu to offer over 15,000 new legal, streaming videos from providers like FUNimation, Viz and Sentai Filmworks! This is great news because this is helping to promote legal video streaming of anime which helps keep our anime up and going so everyone can enjoy.

Below is the press release posted from Kit (Sothis) Cameron on the Hulu partnership.

Community members can now watch Hulu's full suite of anime videos directly from Anime-Planet. In addition, those who create an anime list of what they've seen can opt-in to update their list automatically when watching videos from Hulu or other providers on the site.
This is the second major announcement in the past few weeks from Anime-Planet, the only recommendation resource that now aggregates and serves content from two of the largest industry leaders for legal, streaming anime: Hulu and Crunchyroll.
Kim Cameron, CEO and founder of Anime-Planet, says this release is part of a wider plan to make the website a destination for watching the anime you love.
"Anime-Planet has been an innovator in bringing anime fans features they love since 2001 – we built our reputation through providing the only recommendation engine for about 6 years, we created the 'life on anime' bar that's now a standard feature across anime sites, and now, we're a destination for watching legal, streaming anime online from your favorite providers. Hulu provides a wealth of content from top anime providers in the USA, so now, in addition to watching your favorite Crunchyroll content on the site, you can also view many classic and brand new titles from Funimation, Viz, and more. With these and more announcements coming soon, it's a great time to try out Anime-Planet."
Ms. Cameron also talks about future plans to refresh Anime-Planet's look and feel.
"In addition to these exciting releases for video content, we're currently working steadily on a full visual redesign for the site, which will launch with a better user experience, simplified and attractive design, and new features – as well as better support for tablets and mobile devices. There's plenty more to come."
I don't know about the rest of you, but I know that I will be awaiting those other announcements in the future as well as the redesigned sight to see what this will bring to a new anime experience for many of the users of anime planet. Also, I will be following the future announcements from Anime Planet to keep all of you updated on whats happening, and you can visit www.anime-planet.com

Hamatora: Look at Smoking World

Hamatora the story revolves around "Minimum" or "minor miracle"— special hereditary powers discovered only in an extremely limited number of humans. Those who possess such powers are known as "Minimum Holders."

This anime has been one of the many new series to hit the anime scene this winter 2014. The Anime premiered January 7 of this year by the studio Naz on TV Tokyo and was part of a project that started with the Hamatora manga written by Yukino Kitajima and Yūki Kodama as the character designer, while Yū Wazu is adapting the design to the illustration.

Now, the next instillation for the project is going to be the 3DS game titled,  "Hamatora: Look at Smoking World", developed by FuRyu will be released in July 2014 in Japan. Shuhou Imai will direct the game, which will include characters that appeared in the anime, as well as introducing new characters.

Knights Of Sidonia

For you sci-fi anime fans out there this one is for you!

Knights of Sidonia is a Sci-fi manga that takes place in a distant future thousands of years after humanity has left the earth which has been destroyed by a mysterious Alien race called the Gauna that supposedly have shapeshifting abilities. Humanity has escaped from earth on gigantic spaceships that were created from remains of the planet earth. One of said ships is Sidonia, which has developed its own human culture closely based on that of Japan where human cloning, asexual reproduction, human engineering such as controlled hybrid human/animal mutations and human photosynthesis are commonplace, and is arguably the last human settlement remaining as the fate of the other ships is unknown.

The story follows the exploits of Nagate Tanikaze, who lived in the underground layer of Sidonia since birth, raised by his grandfather. Never having met anyone else, he trains himself in an old Guardian pilot simulator every day, eventually mastering it. After his grandfather's death he is found by the rest of the population and after being tested in a new simulator he is selected as a Guardian pilot, in hopes of defending Sidonia from the Gauna's attack using his incredible combat skills.

It has been announced that this manga series by Tsutomu Nihei, published by Kodansha in their magazine Afternoon, will be recieving an anime adaptation by Polygon Pictures'. Also, the anime will be streamed internationally on Netflix after it debuts as part of the spring anime season in Japan. check out a brief 1 minute preview of this CG animated action below:

From what I have seen in this short preview of whats to come I do not believe that the cg animation will bother me too much after a few episodes it should just be a minor thing that will not really matter in the end compared to the story line and its smooth battle scenes. I will be expecting for this to be a good story that does not stray away from what was written in the manga which had good art as well, and I will like I normally do be looking for how accurate the character representation is compared to how the character was represented in the manga.

Everyone should just keep an eye out for now, and if you have not already then go and take a look at the manga. I will keep an eye out for the Netflix release and post again after I have seen the first episode to let you know if it is worth the time.
